I was extremely impressed with the overall quality and design of this combo kit, great travel kit to get for someone wanting to try out fishing! A lot of benefits in this little rod and it has been extremely convenient to keep in my vehicle most of the time. With the compact stored size and the easy carry case, I can pull it from under one of my seats and be ready to fish in less than 4 minutes of reassembly. Down side is having to re-lace the tackle through the eyelets every time I want to set it up if I store it in the supplied carrying case (spool and rod cannot be stored in the attached position). The tackle line seems to have issues holding a standard fisherman's knot; I have lost more than a couple lures on a cast due to loosening knots (I do fully understand how to tie lures, it is not due to user error). I would suggest investing in a higher quality line when you first set your rod up.Overall, I have enjoyed using both the 6 ft and 8 ft variations of this rod and have found more opportunities to fish simply by having this rod with me at any given time. Examples of species that I have landed over the past 6 months are rock bass, smallmouth, bluegill, smaller catfish, and a couple of pickerel.

Compact. Sturdy. Nice case holds it when it's broken down.. it'd be 5 stars if the case could hold it with the reel attached to the rod. Watch YouTube videos on how to get the fishing string to conform to the barrel with warm water before use.. otherwise you'll get a wad of string constantly wanting to unravel.

First time fishing/camping trip. This kit comes with everything to fish. Except directions. Daughter savvy with youtube figured most of the assembly online. However, still needed help! Thank goodness nearby we met Josh fishing with his 2 sons and he was able to assemble the two fishing poles and the lines in a snap ! He looked over the Magreel Kits and thought they were great and had everything you would need.I liked them because they did not take up a lot of room in the car. Both daughter and Dad were very pleased with sets. And cannot wait to go fishing again.

I got this as a gift for a friend who loves to fish and travels a lot. She tells me it's wonderful, and she is completely thrilled. She even likens it to a fine musical instrument, almost as delightful to look at as to use. Well, she hasn't been out fishing yet, but she thinks it's absolutely great.As other reviewers have stated, the pole is reasonably flexible and the reel works smoothly. Everything is quick and easy to assemble, and the carry-case is a real plus, since it keeps the bits together. You can forget it in the trunk of your car and it won't get mangled when you put groceries on top of it. Depending on where you fish, the starter set of hooks, lures and hardware may or may not get you out the door, but it's a reasonable start, with something for almost everybody. You'll probably want to change out some of those little things to emphasize the kind of fishing you'll be doing, but there's enough space in the kit to set yourself up for a peaceful break on the water in the midst of an ordinary day. (But don't forget to throw in a knife, unless you're planning to take it in the passenger compartment of a plane.)

I bought this kit so I could just leave it in my trunk so I'm never without a rod and reel. This is the best option for what I was looking for! The case keeps everything nice and safe and organized while making it possible to drop a line in the water within 2 minutes of pulling over! The price is a bargain considering everything you get. Everything is a lot better quality than I expected and the real is strong and smooth. 5 stars from me!

I was browsing through amazon a week ago and came across this product and decided to give it a shot and ordered it. I was completely amazed once I received this product! The fact that it got here earlier than expected, along with coming in a nice case, fluorocarbon line, light rod, well built reel, and some nice tackle, was incredible!!! I seriously can't wait to take this out fishing and start catching some fish!!! It's very compact and easy to travel with if your consistently on the road or traveling!

Bought this for my BF for Christmas and he takes it everywhere. The rod and reel combo are pretty awesome for the price and how compact it can get.
