Q: Not getting an power out from the yellow and white wires. Does the device I’m using this switch on need it’s own power source?

no it does not, the black wire comes out an make a y so one wire goes to battery negative and the other to negative on your device. the red wire splices with the white wire from relay and then to positive battery, then the yellow wire goes to positive side of device you what to turn on. when you press remote button little light on relay should light up along with activating you controlled device. give this a try, l know sounds like alot but this was the short version

It depends on the distance and obstacles between the transmitter and the receiver. I used this control switch to power up the lights of my shed in my backyard. It's a radio frequency and even detects if I turn it on from the master's bedroom ( around 5 feet away).

Yes it only on as long as you hold the button there is a on and off switch they have that what I thought I was buying got the same switch you got try to return for the on off switch
