Fabulous signal strength in the right location
Mounted 10 feet in the air on the back deck. Needed service to some cameras at the boat dock 130 - 150 feet away. Tested signal strength and was hitting 250 mbps upload and download speeds with line of sight positioning and 5g band (1 gig service plan). It didn’t do as well in placements with tree obstructions. Overall I have about an absolute 200 yard obstruction free range of service. Setup was easy. And most importantly, its paintable with Krylon Fusion paint (mat Coffee Brown) so it better blends with the house and pleases my wife. I checked signal strength before and after painting with no loss of signal strength. I only receive the 2.5 g signal in the house and receive no signal at all in front of the house. Mounted higher it would probably do better but it currently does exactly what I need it to do.

Still working at 9 months
So far so good. Will update if it quits, but at the 5 month point I am satisfied with its performance. Update: march 25- still working well at 9 months.

Disaster
I have placed the device 4 m high in a parking area to connect 5 Wifi cameras and it has been a disaster. The main signal of my router has 300 mbps and is 6 m from the antenna and the signal from the router in the first camera is 200 mbps, but the signal from this antenna is 2 mbps!!! At 15 mmts, the antenna gives me 1 Mbps. I have had to disconnect all the cameras and connect them to the main router, moving it to a higher part. I have tried updating the firmware and also changing the mode to AP and ROUTER creating another network, but nothing has improved. I have no other Wi-Fi signals nearby or interference between the antenna and the cameras, since it is a parking lot, however the result is very bad. I do not recommend purchasing this product

Almost
It's almost there. The good:In router mode the Lan speed is 1gbps. It has one lan port and one wan port. This is good because it forces you to buy a switch. A decent switch and this router, wifi is sorted for the house and cheaper than a fancy dedicated mesh network thing that costs $500.the "Meh that was more difficult than it needed to be":In access point mode... The manual says to hook up the POE to the LAN port vice the WAN port. this didn't work for me. I had to POE the wan with no connection to the injector and a second cat6 back to the switch. after setting in AP Mode it was unrecoverable as a router. after hitting the reset procedures, the device began giving out IP addresses in direct conflict with the previously established router. I can only configure the device by isolating it from the network then reinstalling it after changes are made. if the device is the only DCHP server then everything is happy.I was looking for a dual band router to setup as an access point for long range Wifi. I paired this with a flat panel 15db directional antenna to boost the wireless out as far as possible. From the edge of the house it got all the way to street! the some total of three car lengths. I tried the included antenna's as well as a pair of 9db omni-directional antenna's the omni's got about 15 feet out of the house. its passable as a local router but the bus stop is three houses away, full line of sight everything says this should work.the BAD:The problem is the power consumption of the radio. each radio is set to "high power" and it broadcasts 200mw's. The FCC allows for a device 5 times that with their peak at 1 watt. The limitation isn't just legal though. The only way to power the device is POE, and that places a hard limit to the power the radio can consume. Then divide that by four radios and its a barely functioning candle stick. Its well within the FCC guidelines to broadcast a lot more power out of the radio. it's the site license holder to respect "observed" peak output power not the manufacturer. I would have liked the option to power it via a DC barrel jack and not off POE this would allow for the design of a stronger radio (nothing a soldiering iron couldn't fix).

Did the job.
This was difficult to set up but stick with it because it was worth the trouble. Working great.

Non-consistent performance. Setup instructions in very small print, hard to read, poorly written
I ordered two of them and eventually sent both back. The first would not work properly because POE information was poorly written. Printed instructions were printed so small I could not even read with powerful reading glasses. Most devices with POE connect to a switch or 48 volt external injector to supply the 48 volts. The AC1200 requires its own POE 24 volts and was illustrated. However, instructions do NOT say not to use a normal POE of 48 volts. I sent Support an email and received a well written response 5 days later (no 800 help number). The first AC1200 did not work after I used its dedicated POE injector, so I sent it back. For the second AC1200, the 5G worked perfectly. However, the 2.4 signal intermittently faded and would drop out completely. So I sent this one back too.I ordered three Wavlink AC600's for replacement at half the price of the AC1200 and both AC600's work great. Setup instructions are printed in much larger print and are extremely well written. The AC600's work at least as good as the AC1200 when it worked. I suggest buying the AC600 instead.

Love this outdoor wifi extender!
I have bought several wifi extenders over the years to try to improve the wifi accessibility to my outdoors area/shop. I have ring cameras outdoors that had connectivity issues with the other wifi extenders that I had purchased! The first time in years we finally found an extender that actually extends wifi outdoors with full capacity! I highly recommend this extender. We had a bad storm on last night and this device never messed up or malfunctioned with it being out in the elements!

Works great
Installed wireless camera on my garage. Building is 200 feet from house. Was getting 28% signal. Camera was having problem with motion sensing. Installed booster as a relay of wireless signal. Now getting 98% signal. Motion sensing on camera working as should. Garage has steel outside and inside walls. Never got WIFI inside Garage. After setting up this booster have great WIFI inside Garage too.
