The Concept The use of dice has been recorded to ancient times. The oldest known dice were excavated as part of a 5000-year-old backgammon set at the Burnt City, an archaeological site in south-eastern Iran Dice collecting began with the popularity of the Dungeon & Dragons series of board/role playing games. With AKO Dice, the designer has taken the traditional dice and turned it on its head. A simple idea with a complex design. The new design is inspired by new age concepts, and has a sleek, space-age, cutting-edge technology style - a one of a kind design perfect for all gamers as well as collectors. AKO Dice utilizes a redesigned dice pip with custom engraved artwork on a 16 mm 6-sided dice. Each side is flat with beveled edges, contributing to a sleek, comfortable feel for game play. Rather than using traditional dice pips, each number (1-6) is represented by a line on each side. Continuing the design, each side is connected by pip line, creating links between the numbers. Ako Dice are made of aluminum and finished either naturally or in a selection of anodized colors. The packaging contains 2 dice per boxed set. Beautiful and well designed.
Beautiful. These dice are well made and really attractive. At first online, I was unsure of whether they would be well made and nice looking, or just a bit junky. They are very nice looking. The pros: These dice are elegant, well designed, and impressive looking. They would make a lovely gift for a game player, and they are sturdy. The corners are not sharp and they are pleasant and cool to hold. The cons: If you roll these on a wood table, I am guessing it might dent your wood table. They are very sturdy and well made, so you will need some protection for your table. Overall, though, these are beautiful and well designed. Highly recommended!

Sexy!
My husband loves dice - he has a bunch of D&D dice and this was great as a birthday gift. He really appreciated the heft and the craftsmanship. I loved how original they were. I'm very pleased to have purchased these and considering getting the black ones for me!

This is cool as hell
This is cool as hell. Maybe it's a bit pricey, but I don't think anyone is buying this dice without having some extra money to spare anyways. Seriously, the design is wonderful and I love that they have some weight to them. That makes throwing them all the more satisfying.

I was a little worried that these dice would be too heavy at first and damage any surface you roll them on. But when I received them I was pleased to find they're both gorgeous and lightweight so I don't think I'll have any problem. I got the silver ones but now I think I'm going to have to order a set of black as well!

Original design, excellent quality.
These dice are absolutely wonderful. They are well crafted, smooth and of a solid heft. I got a few of these as part of the kickstarter project the manufacturer did. I collect dice and these are among the center pieces of a collection I am quite pleased with. You might also checkout the Type 2 that they make as well. They're gorgeous as well.
