Q: How much oil do you put in the oil container? there is no line mark on the one i received. the water line is clearly marked, but none for the oil.?

If you look on the inside of the container, mine has the lines clearly marked. It measures 1/4 cup oil, 1/8 cup water and one egg but I only use half of the brownie mix or it will run all over my microwave. Half of the brownie mix fills the container to the line and makes a perfect brownie in 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

Q: does it give you those chewy edge pieces?

No. Microwave brownies are soft. Only ovens make the chewy edges.

Q: The brownies came out more like a cake but my daughter likes the fudge brownies that are not cake like. Any suggestions or ingredient adjustments?

I always add chocolate chips and pecans/walnuts. I add more chips than it says, because I like fudgy brownies.
