The Maglite functioned, after a fashion, as bought. However, after a few uses, it failed to light. Upon investigation, it was apparent that the tail cap had loosened by around a quarter-turn. Tighten it up and all was fine. However the cap loosening continued.At that point I compared this device with an identical one that I already owned and which functioned perfectly.It was immediately apparent that the "battery spring" was inserted too deeply into the tail cap. Removing it and replacing it to a similar position as seen on the working torch cured the problem and all has ben well since that time. In effect, it increased the pressure on that base of the battery.It is worth observing that, as delivered, when turning on there was a very distinctive sound that could best be described as a twanging spring. Perhaps the battery was trying to rotate within the body, who knows. After the adjustment to the spring the torch operated silently, and consistently, as indeed it should!All's well that ends well!!

This is a great little torch. I have used them for years and they never let you down. Bright and robust. Just make sure you pick the right size for you. Don't get confused with the Mini Maglite AAA and the AA (like I did!)

I’m really disappointed with this torch. I’ve always had Maglite torches but frequently when I turn this on ( and in darker afternoons/ evenings I use it every day), it won’t turn on. It wouldn’t work last night, so I went to change the batteries- I tried it once more and it worked! Tried it again this morning and low and behold it’s not working again! Very unreliable!

I'm not certain that this is genuine Maglite. If it is, then their quality has gone down the tubes. Bought this one month ago and it already started to become intermittent. I took off the lens holder to clean the threads (suspecting a poor contact) and the cloth became marked with red, indicating that the 'anodising' was being wiped off. Time to find a better quality brand.

Poor quality!!I brought this torch as a gift. After the first time it was used it didn’t turn on again. Checked the batteries and one had eroded and the other is stuck inside so I can’t change the batteries!!

Was bought for my best friend for Christmas. She loved it
