Very nice camera once setup but read on especially if a novice....
Great camera let down by two major flaws, one minor flaw1) The IP address is preset to 192.168.0.200 rather than DHCP this means it can clash with a device already on the network. I had this problem and only realised when two ip scanners showed up different mac addresses for the same ip address. Sorted this by taking the other device off the network and logged in with IE (you must use IE with a lot of Chinese cameras, Edge Chrome Firefox can be very flaky) on Windows 10 and was able to change the IP address to stop conflicts. Docked half a star as this is poor default to set, because if set to DHCP it would be allocated a unallocated IP address by the router and therefore no chance of conflict.2) Instructions what instructions! Yes there are some QR codes to get software and manual but the latter is not even any use as toilet paper. A tip is that the username is admin and password is admin by default to login via IE on the default 192.168.0.200 address, and watch for a separate popup window to enter the login details.. If you have setup Chinese cameras before its possible to do it just by working through the settings and only changing whats required (especially turning off services not required) but if you are a novice might struggle. Change one setting at a time and keep saving as you go a long.3) At night when using zoom you can find the IR goes from a wide field of illumination to a pencil beam long before the camera needs it to, it could be something in the settings but it is annoying. The IR lights though are very good and from another fixed camera it was easy to see the power of these lights.Once you do get it working the day and night quality are awesome and for this price I would suggest hard to beat. The hedgehog was taken at night in total darkness at a distance of approximately 20m , the day squirrel at about 3m. The camera works ok with BlueIris in terms of basic PTZ and presets (no manual focus though but under investigation with BlueIris) and ONVIF detection is fine. A major plus point though is the ability to use h.265. In use this means the camera is using approximate the same bandwidth as a 2MP camera with similar quality settings but a much less complicated scene. Although not clear in the description the camera needs 12v 2a supply, and whilst it says it is POE I was skeptical if POE could supply this. I am happy to report that so far using POE 802.1af switch (BV Tech 5 port 65w) has revealed no apparent power shortage issues.A word of note though when mounting you will need a good quality IP rated junction and the ability to put a 25mm hole in i in the lowest side. You need a hole this big to get the rj45 female connector through. I then sealed the hole with duct tape on both sides. This is honest review and I have not been paid etc to provide this.

Too unreliable
As other reviewers have stated, this camera is not suitable for anyone without advanced knowledge of setting up unknown brands. The first camera (same make and model) was returned without even trying it, as something was lose inside the casing and could have jammed the mechanism. (Caution - Hermes took six days to return the camera from a Central England address to Amazon at Dunfermline). The second (replacement) camera was installed, but immediately displayed unreliability by not working (no video signal) at night. Initially satisfactory during daylight operations, it was thought that the Netgear 4 port POE switch in use wasn't powerful enough to conduct POE operations at night, when the IR kicks in (max 15 watts per port, whereas the external power transformer to the camera (not tried initially) could offer 24 watts output, so an up-rated POE switch was used, but without any improvement. After trying another Ethernet cable and attaching the external power supply (plus by-passing the POE switch and using only the router), the camera continued to lose the video signal at regular intervals during daylight operations. There were no instructions nor any trouble shooting tips provided and the initial set up proved to be very time consuming and frustrating. This second camera has now also been returned and I would not recommend this camera.

Good hardware, weak software, NO support.
I've been a bit generous in giving this camera 4 stars I think, albeit the hardware seems quite sound. However, without equally good software it may as well be a wall ornament... First installation was surprisingly easy (having been warned it was a dog to setup), just put 198.162.0.200 into Internet Explorer (assuming no other devices use that IP address) and follow the instructions to reset password and set your options. I did this with the camera temporarily screwed to a wood bracket - not wanting to mount on the wall and drill holes in until satisfied it actually worked :) For power I use a Netgear GS108PP-100EUS PoE/PoE+ unmanaged switch so only one connection to the camera is required. Everything appeared to be going well, I had a usable image, PTZ worked OK (a bit clunky using the IE interface but, meh), and the settings were left mostly basic. However, I don't use IE as my primary browser but Firefox. Connecting the camera with that asks me to install an activeX driver and to also load a plugin into Firefox (axhost.r39.xpi). This is where things started to come apart... Firefox reports the plugin as being corrupt and would not install it, despite downloading it many times, so no video display on my usual browser. This camera will not work with Firefox as of time of writing. So then - back to IE. However, now the PTZ control window is no longer functional (although I can still move it around using right-click/drag on the video display), and worse - all settings are greyed out so no more changes can be made. I tried to install the IPC_AX.exe program that IE is using to interface with the camera and still no change. What to do? Is it there a software issue on the Windows PC or is the problem within the camera? I re-boot the camera several times and that made no difference. This is the situation at this time, I think next I will try resetting the camera back to factory defaults although the commands for re-boot and reset are also greyed out but maybe there is a switch on the camera. Not very happy at the moment and will need to update this review later if I fix the issue (or return the camera!)Overall the image quality is pretty good, it only shows faults when at high zoom when significant chromatic aberrations become apparent. Autofocus is pretty good, it does hunt when there are several objects in FOV at different distances, it can't make its mind up which to focus on. I could use manual focus when the IE controls were working but as stated above, all such features were lost due to software issues. I never got around to testing much else. The motors are quiet so don't attract attention - but the Big White Casing I would imagine leaves little to the imagination that this is a security camera to any passersby.I did install the IOS app for the camera and that still works OK (such as it is) so that puts me off doing the factory reset for now, if the camera itself were the problem then the IOS app would be seeing the same issues I think. I will post a follow-up later..edit: A week later and the camera is once again functional. I installed BlueIris software and the very act of installing it apparently made it work within IE once again. I have noticed several things that don't work quite as they should - the PTZ home button doesn't work, the manual focus buttons don't work under BlueIris, the IR illumination control doesn't work under either IE or BlueIris, the Pan/Tilt speed when fully zoomed out is way too fast and difficult to control, and lots of other niggly problems. Oh well, time to call (email) 'support'. First, I asked about firmware upgrades which I hoped may fix some of these issues (A: We don't make these available because people might install the wrong version), and also reported the issue with FireFox (A: Thanks, we'll get back to you...). They didn't of course. So, with zero helpful information available about this camera on the web and zero support I really cannot recommend this camera to anyone despite the low asking price. If you get a problem with it you are really up a creek without a paddle. For these reasons I've removed two stars from my review and suggest you look for a better supported product.Update: This cam has been installed outdoors in all weathers now for some 21 months, it has proved to be reliable with the only camera issue being when the (I assume) altitude drive belt slipped and it refused to lift up to its maximum elevation. Easily corrected by simply pushing the camera ball up manually. It's been OK since. I've also received and installed a firmware update over the past month - use the support email address listed above in the description as you will get a response to questions. Like many cameras the browser interface only runs under Internet Explorer (my Dahua is the same) so I tend to use BlueIris (now version 5). Everything works with the exception of manual control over focus. Because of the firmware update and reliable service (and overall good optical performance) I have changed my review score back to 4 stars (up from 2).
