I'm getting skeptical about these Retro51 refills. I bought a "Betsy" rollerball pen from them, and the cartridge that came with the original pen never worked well; it was always putting out very little ink, and the writing was light and spotty. I figured that it was probably old or a faulty one, which is annoying but could happen as an odd instance I suppose - I wouldn't write off the company for a single incident. Then I ordered this three-pack refills and put one in the pen and put the pen in my front jeans pocket. At the end of the day when I got home and was throwing the jeans in the wash, I noticed a black spot on my pants. I thought nothing of it - I'm in construction and get my pants dirty all the time - but when I put the pants on the next time I saw that it was the ink from the refill that leaked. Thank goodness I'm not a white-collar snob who wears nice slacks to work! Now the new refill is writing spottily and light, just like the one it replaced. I think it is out of ink. I still have two of the three refills, so we'll see if the others are the same, but for now my impression of the Retro51 pen company is "nice pens, bad refills". As a side note, the refills weren't packaged in a blister pack as shown. They were in a small ziplock baggie as in my picture.

I normally use fountain pens. I needed a go to pen when the situation was optimal for use of the pen or to just have something different. I love Retro 51 pens and I have many of them. I purchased the Dr. Grey and am happy with my purchase. When the ink ran out I ordered the replacement cartridges. Same as the ink the pen came with. Great color, smooth writing, and dries quickly. Will be picking up the blue cartridges to give them a try soon. Well worth the purchase.
