Wow of a Dog Bed
Iv just recieved this dog bed in the post, so this will be my first impressions. The fur is amazingly soft, so much so I wanted to try the bed myself, its very lucious to the touch. The outside is very much like a cotton mix material. This is NOT a firm bed and the sides barely stand up by themselves, which if youv got a delicate dog recovering from ill health it maybe ideal for you. Also those dogs who like to hang over the sides of beds its ideal for them. Its plenty big enough for my Cain X who is like a very large black Westie. He can lay straight out flat in it very easily.NB BEFORE BUYING CHECK OUT INTERNAL DIMENSIONS (I found them on another website). The outside measures 34 inches but the inside is 26 inches. I think a medium sized dog would have plenty of space with a large breed like a Labrador could curl up in it, or flake over the edge. It would fit two small dogs easily (ie the toy breeds), a Chihuahua would disappear in its depths.NOT for those dogs who at all chew their beds. My dog is not a chewer but he was tempted to give it a try, hopefully he wont turn into a bed chewer.Under the cushion is just the usual wipe clean material, but Iv found with many other types of bed this does ware down over time, even before the edges. All the beds I know have this bottom, so it seems to be a thing everyone does - it makes us buy more beds! The sides are nice and high, about 6 inches, so any dog can get low down into it and stay out of a draft. The sides would squish if sat on by the dog.The bed is very light, I have a bad back and found it easy to lift in its packaging. It is in a plastic sealed bag and then the delivery bag, so scissors were needed to open it. I didnt pay any postage so no worries there.I brought the size as I like to think it will last more then one dog. Iv not washed it yet so I dont know if the fur stays plush or ends up like the usual bobbles/teddy fur.The other thing about the fur is that your dog maybe confused that its their bed, so Iv put my dogs blankets in there and he tried it out for size. His beds better then mine now.:)For the price its brilliant, but I would have liked to see more stuffing to the sides (I can sew and will add some more if it needs it). I think it would work well as an insert to the large resin beds (Iv got one that has lasted 5 dogs so far and still like knew, I hope this one lasts as long). It is a Wow of a dog bed, and I would have given it a five if only it had more stuffing on the sides.PS: I have sensitive skin and have had no problem touching the fur or sides as yet.

Comfortable bed, do check internal dimensions before buying!
Bought this a couple of days ago after finding my little lurcher shivering in the morning having caught a chill despite it being May! For much of the year she wears a coat at night as she is very thin, a saluki/whippet cross, and the bedroom is draughty, but I had thought it was warm enough to do without. So I wanted a bed which would protect from draughts more than her duvet does - my other lurcher doesn't feel the cold as much and seems happy with his duvet, which he likes pulling around. The bed came within 48 hours with the free super-saver delivery. It is nice and soft and is big enough: I got the 34" after reading another reviewer's helpful post about the actual size. When I measure INSIDE it is 28"x22"x8" - the 8" is at the highest point of the sides and in practice these are a bit floppy and it depends how the dog lies. At first she was lying in what looked an uncomfortable way with her head down over the edge, so I put a duvet rolled up next to the bed for her to rest her head on, but now after 3 nights she seems to have got the hang of it more and lies curled with her head inside or over the lower side part. My bigger lurcher gets in it sometimes but only just fits in if he is completely curled up in a ball shape (he is about 30" from shoulder to base of spine when measuring for coats!)Altogether I am pleased with it, though it would be nice if the sides were higher to protect more from draughts, and if they made a larger size than this for long dogs!

Yap Heavy Duty Pet Bed
Before we got our puppy 16 months ago I had bought her a Yap Peluchi Giraffe Bed which she just loved and I will be forever convinced it helped her settle in as it reminded her of her mother as it was the same colour & soft and furry. (Perhaps I am just being silly, but she loved it.)As she had outgrown it but still slept in it, 3/4 in the bed and 1/4 on the floor I decided to get her a new one for her Christmas so chose the Yap Semmula Heavy Duty Oval Bed thinking it would be the same only bigger & stronger. It is a good bed, but the sides are very floppy and tend to flatten easily if she leans against them. However, it is very cosy looking and she does love it, taking turns of sleeping in it and the baby bed.As she is a pale Golden Retriever, it is very easy to miss her as the lining of the bed is the same colour as her coat. So, to summarise, a warm, cosy bed that washes well but the sides would be better if made of stiffer material. For that reason only, I have deducted a star.

Good First Impressions
Firstly, may I say thank you to all those who made very clear comments about the size of this bed, otherwise I would have bought one which was too small and would have had to exchange it. To add to the mix, I purchased a 30" model and found the dimensions to be, externally 29"x23" and internally, 23"x19" and an all round height of 9". I have a Transylvanian hunting dog who turned up in my garden one morning a few months ago and decided to stay - she's about 18 months old and ready for the 'op' so I thought I would treat her to a comfy convalescing bed, which I am pleased to say is just the perfect size for her and, within an hour of putting it on the floor, she happily climbed in and promptly fell fast asleep! My initial concern about the sides being a little floppy have now been allayed as the weight of the dog in the bed seems to pull it all together and the sides support her nicely. The fact it has a reasonably high side matters as last winter it went down to -17 degrees and she is a short coated dog, so this again fits the bill. It will hopefully be a while before it will need a wash, but I do think the detachable padded 'cushion' in the base is a good idea. Don't worry, there is a second base below that which keeps the whole bed still intact. All in all, and especially if you don't have to pay that extra fiver for European delivery (I live in the heart of France but I actually think that was a fair charge) I would say it is very good value for money.
