Q: Are the dimensions all in inches?

My girl measured it in inches. She would be even more amazed to measure it in centimeters.

Q: Is this item pre-assembled? One review stated that it was. Would be great if that was in the description. Thx.

Product width says 47' assembled 48'. Picture shows assembled at 47'. What is correct? I only have 47' to work with

Q: Is the unit adjustable enough to accommodate hardcover books?

Yes. It can be adjusted to fit books and any number of different items. Depth is about 5-1/4" on the adjustable shelves and 7" on the bottom shelf. I keep Blu-Ray's, DVD's, & CD's only on the 4 units I have.

Q: I'm not good at building things and I don't have a lot of tools at home. What would I need, that doesn't come in the box, to assemble and mount this?

You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer to put the case together (keep the foam that comes in the box, you'll use it as a buffer when you use the hammer) and you'll need a drill when you go to mount it on the wall. A stud finder and a leveler are a great help, but if you don't mind looking for the studs by trial and error then they're not nessisarry.
