Q: will this work from the mains as well as battery

This is either powered and controlled by USB (in which case it also charges at the same time) or powered by the internal battery and only controlled by USB. You can choose which mode it works in. There is no separate power input. If you really needed to power this from a separate DC source I guess you could do some funky wiring with a USB cable :\

Q: Is there any way to charge this from a regular phone wall charger?

Yes you can, just connect the enclosed blue usb3.0 cable to the phone charger.

Q: When the internal battery (or batteries) reach the end of their useful life, are these replaceable by the end user?

The battery just plugs into the motherboard of the unit. So you could remove or replace.

Q: Will it work with Apple Music lossless(apple digital master)?

I use bought this to use with iPhone 12 Pro Max and Apple Music Lossless, as it’s the only way I could output the audio through my Denon receiver (it supports Airplay 2, but that isn’t lossless in transmission). I bought a high quality QED 3.5mm jack to RCA cable and it works brilliantly. You can’t use straight Lightning to USB, as iPhone doesn’t output the digital stream using that method, so you will need the Apple Camera Connection cable to make it work.
