i had low expectations for these brushes going into it. but gotta say i LOVE them.Couple things to note:- The brushes come with some sort of binding agent to keep the end stiff while packaging. Hold the brush tip under warm water and gently bend the brush tip. It will quickly soften.- You draw up the water into them by putting them in a glass of water and twisting the end (or hold it tilted sideways with the tip in your hand under the faucet and twist the end)- Use the brown brushes for inks and the white for paints- The instructions are all in chinese, so if you're new to these brushes, may want to google instructions...

I purchased these for an upcoming road trip to use with a sketch book. I just tried them before setting out. I am a little disappointed. the 3 brushes I used to not keep a fine point which Chinese brushes are know to do well. I had a more expensive set of water brushes in the past from another vendor that did keep a point. For the price they will work for the project I purchased them for. I would not use them for major studio projects.

These are really cool! I purchased this set and a larger set as well. I'm learning how to make the strokes without messing up any paper! The mat starts to dry fairly quickly after exposure to a wet brush. A must have for anyone wanting to learn Chinese Calligraphy and have a way to practice over and over again!

I was a little surprised to find the larger brush was a lot larger than I expected but the smaller ones will work for my projects. They appear to be well enough made but I haven't given them any hard use.

I got these for husband as he's learning to paint kanji calligraphy (shodo) and he says they work well. the water strokes show up just as clear and dark as if they were ink.

This cloth is very convenient and makes writing with brushes so much cleaner. The only minor issue I have is that it’s hard to get the sharp tips of strokes because the cloth doesn’t absorb water quickly enough

I've enjoyed using these brushes. They're a little light weight, but so far they haven't leaked and are comfortable to use.

Very nice water brushes. Use them filled with water to practice on a Buddha board. Makes it very convenient when I’m not at home. Haven’t used them with ink yet.
