Um, no.
I'd heard about this on triple D and a few other places, and thought, "Well, if they're ranting THIS MUCH, it must be GREAT." Nah.Used it on chicken TWICE (the reviews I'd read slobbered all over how good it was supposed to be with chicken), and it SUCKED. Not that it was nauseating, it just had no flavor at all. We have a pretty broad palate--like all kinds of foods--but this had no real flavor profile at all. I've read it described as 'lemony', etc.: don't you believe it. I loaded the food up with lemon and this stuff, and it pretty much...just lay there.Frankly: we grew up poor and couldn't afford too many spices or extras, and my mom's roast chicken with JUST salt, pepper and butter rocked WAAAAAAAAY more than this. Save your money is my instinct. I still plan to try it mixed with some other herbs, so I'll update, and hopefully find a recipe or two that is worth the investment. The company DOES give you a LOT for your money, in the way of sheer amount of the spice that they send you. I'd be very open to anyone here who wanted to send me recipes or ways to use it that might change my initial impression. So look out for future updates.UPDATE: OK, I'm finally getting around to updating this, now that I've had time to try some of the suggestions of the kind commenters below. I like it pretty well now that I've tried it mixed with a few other herbs and especially on flat bread. It's killer with flat bread dipped in fresh garlic lightly saute'd in butter, then mixed with the sumac and some Mexican oregano (try it: you'll never use any other kind of oregano again--I used to HATE oregano, now I use the Mex. kind all the time). So I've upgraded to a four star on my review. Once you know how to use a spice, it makes all the difference. Just don't follow the recipe on the bag...And thanks to everyone below who took the time to leave me so much info. I'm still working my way through the suggestions! Happy holidays to you all as well! :-)

Major disappointment
Upon opening the bag there was the reek of stale sesame seeds. The seeds were not toasted and were so few and so tiny it'd be a wonder if you could have even tasted them. As for the rest? Tasteless, no aroma of herbs at all. It's like fine ground green hay with an unpleasant. tangy aftertaste. And its not elegable for return, replacement, or your money back. Won't make this mistake again.

This is Middle-Eastern quality certified
You guys, I have lived most of my life in the Middle-East where Za'atar originated from and is a staple food for breakfast and dinner. Here's the thing, though. I really NEVER liked it growing up, and, sure, I carried some authentic Za'atar with me to the US every time I visited but it pretty much just sat there, unused for years. I tried so many different brands because it was something I would eat when I am feeling nostalgic, but I never really got into it.Well, folks, that was BEFORE I stumbled upon Ziyad Green Za'atar. I cannot tell you just how good this brand is! It tastes great and fresh with a perfect balance of thyme and spices and sesame seeds. I don't just like it, I crave it! I have it almost every day. It's the only brand I have eaten in the past couple of years, and I prefer it over stuff I get from the Middle East, that's how good it is! Two thumbs up! I realized when I ordered yet again this week that I never really left a review, and, boy, is it worth a great one! I highly recommend it!For anyone who doesn't know how this is "prepared", you just drizzle some olive oil on a slice of pita bread, and add the za'atar, and you'll have a nice tasty sandwich! or you can pour olive oil in a bowl, za'atar in another, and dip a small piece of pita bread into the oil then the za'atar., which is how it is usually done in family breakfasts or dinners. Alternatively, you can mix the za'atar and olive oil in a small bowl, then top a pizza dough (or really any dough! I use croissant dough oftentimes!) and bake that, and you'll get what's called a man'oosheh. These are the most common ways, but you can also add it to your eggs or avocado toast or cooking. It's quite versatile and it's pretty nutritious and I always enjoy watching my Za'atar naive friends taste it for the first time because they always love it!Can't recommend this za'atar enough!
