Collins Italian Dictionary Complete and Unabridged: For advanced learners and professionals

I like the Collins style of dictionaries and I have bought numerous versions. This one is packed with great information and uses IPA for pronunciation (although I noticed a slight mistake with the adverb ancora - it misplaced the position of the stress, probably because of the noun ancora has the stress on the initial syllable).It has English-Italian in the first half of the book which confuses me as the French, Spanish and German dictionaries that I have bought have that section in the second half of the book.I like the Language in Use section but it just doesn't seem quite as good as the French and Spanish dictionaries although it is still useful.Apart from those points, I do like the dictionary. I use it frequently and has all the information that I want in it so I would certainly recommend it.

It might seem extravagant to buy this great breezeblock of a dictionary when there are so many pocket-sized versions available, but for the serious student of Italian, this is really the only way to go. There is so much content here about language in use, so beautifully printed in easy-to-read fonts, with a brand-new section on business and financial terminology, that will be a boon to anybody trying to penetrate the labyrinth that is the Italian legal document. Molto bello!

What can i say? Its a dictionary! But im hoping it will help my learning journey.

Very quick (overseas) delivery - obviously two days' use is not sufficient to pass a complete judgement, but so far, so very good. Good layout, quality paper used. Collins turning up trumps once again - they never disappoint.

Excellent dictionary. Very comprehensive, gives much more detail and explanation than others. This is an essential dictionary if you are studying Italian.

The dictionary in itself is excellent but about 50 to a hundred pages are upside down. The inner hard cover is covered in scratches. I am returning this one in the hope that I can be sent a version that I can use.
