Oxford Primary Dictionary Paperback – Import, 5 May 2011

Bought for my 8 year old son. He loved it. He is always interested to check for new words. He learnt to use it quickly. It’s his first dictionary!!

Purchased as a gift. Nice bold entries and pictures.

Must buy for kids.. Bought it for my 8 yr old kid... Very simple and amazing... Recommend strongly... 👍

Sufficient for Primary class students to understand the required basic words.

The perfect dictionary for primary school children. Bought for my 7 year old who has just moved into Year 3 and she enjoys looking up words in here. It is clearly and logically set out on each page, in an appealing blue colour. Having all the letters down the side makes finding the first letter easy, and the range of words on each page at the top also helps swift location of the word you are looking for. It is also hardback and will last a lifetime.

I got this for my 10 year old daughter who's home educated. I find there's lots of words that are not in this dictionary so now we need to buy another one

This a nice book - the layout is great and the definitions are simple and easy to understand. But some of the first words my 8 year old looked up aren’t there... ‘reincarnation’, which I think should be in, and ‘refectory’, which perhaps isn’t so surprising. The book she is reading for school is ‘The Catlady’ by Dick King-Smith.

Obviously it's great as it's an Oxford dictionary! however several words have cropped up in reading and conversation with my nearly-8-year-old and he's tried to look up the meanings but the words are not included. I am not ready to let him loose with the full English Dictionary (too much inappropriate word-searching to be done!) but surely there must be a place for an interim reference with trickier words for bright inquisitive children...

Great dictionary for kids. I bought it for my 9yr old son. He likes it and finds it easy to use (well, easy enough - he is just learning how to use a dictionary after all!). The alphabet is written on each page which is great to help in deciding if you need to go forwards or backwards in the book to find your word. Obviously it doesn't have ALL the words in the English language, but a child this age would only find that offputting, so this is a very manageable dictionary.
