Not very pretty but they do the job perfectly!
I am big on home cooking, and have the scars on my forearms to show. When I first bought these in 2012, I was searching for mitts that would withstand temperatures up to around 500 because I often would burn my arms reaching for something from the oven. None of the silicone ones withstand such high temperatures (at least they didn’t when I was looking back then). Also, I didn’t want a pot holder, and I didn’t want gloves that I had to actually work to get on my hands. I wanted something that I could just throw on to grab whatever I was getting and protect my hands. Simple. When I got these I laughed at how big and bulky they are. They are definitely not for showing off when cooking a nice dinner for someone, but if you keep them in the kitchen and just throw them on when doing anything that is going to burn, getting something from the oven, handling hot pans, draining pasta (steam on the arms) these are going to do the job. Iam getting a new pair today. I bought them first in 2012 and misplaced them so I got another pair in 2015 and they need to be retired. If you use them regularly, they wear out mainly where the thumb meets the mitt, the part that gets the most wear from grasping and holding things and they seem to get really stained at the spots where you are handling something. They are cream/white, so you know they are going to get dirty. If you keep them in the kitchen on a hook they just seem to grab whatever is in the air, or whatever splashes or spatters on them. These gloves are not for looks, they are going to cover your arm, and depending on how long that is, it could easily go to your elbows, these gloves are NOT kid friendly – they are too big and bulky for little hands, so don’t let your little ones use them to help you bake. I have used them to pull out cookie sheets holding bacon that has been cooking in the oven, and have had grease spill over on them. Normally, this would be a burn, but these mitts covered my arms enough that nothing got to me. You cannot feel heat, steam or anything with them. They are terry cloth on the outside and have some kind of silver/fire retardant material quilted inside, they have loops for hooks. They are probably too big to hang for most people, but I keep them on hooks that are attached to my fridge side which is next to the oven. They are big enough that you won’t easily lose them. You can tell when you need to replace them when you can start feeling the heat coming though. Most likely you will feel it in the joint because it gets the most wear. Also, if you are anything like me, they are going to get dirty. They are terry cloth covered and attract dirt and any spills. So, yeah, if you want function, and are serious about keeping your hands and arms safe, get these. Keep them in the kitchen, throw them on when you need, and then put them away and forget about them until the next time. You can tell when you need to replace them when you can start feeling the heat coming though. Also, if you are anything like me, they are going to get dirty. They are terry cloth covered and attract dirt and any spills. For reference I am 6-feet tall, and the pics show them going about two-thirds up my arm. High enough that I don’t catch it on the roof of the oven when pulling something out.

safe and smooth on the inside
The oven mitts' large size surprised me. I thought my hands might swim in the mitts, but I can grip hot cast iron pots directly from a 500-degree Fahrenheit oven without slipping and without feeling heat from hot pots. I recommend these mitts for lifting heavy items from a hot oven. The smooth quilted interior of the mitts resembles an ironing board cover. I like the feel and safety of these mitts, so I intend to buy a backup pair.

Big hands? Get the mit that fits
I'm a guy that likes to cook and unbeknownst to me, I have been on a quest for oven mitts. I have purchased cute and funny mitts, mitts that match the dish towels, and even silicone mitts that promised me the world. The silicone mitts are great when I'm handling hot food, such as pulling pork or cutting up a turkey, but I never felt confident pulling a heavy pan out of the oven with them. All the other mitts shrank too much and became too small for my large hands (I can palm a basketball).Recently, I literally busted a mitt out at the seam and wanted something larger.I found these mitts on Amazon and was delighted with the people knocking their large size, but it was exactly what I wanted. Finally, I might have mitts that fits. These things are large, but not unwieldy unless your hands are very small. I have an adequate amount of dexterity while wearing, and let's be honest, if you wear oven mitts you are holding a pot or pan, not doing open heart surgery. They protect my hands from heat, so that's good. It would be a disappointment if you couldn't handle a pan from the oven while wearing oven mitts. Finally, I have washed them a few times and they come out looking good. For the cost, if I get a year or two of use out of them, then I'll be happy, any longer is just icing on the cake.

Less than Impressed
My wife took our Pampered Chef Oven mitts to school and someone took them. Ordered these to replace as Pampered Chef only sells silicone ones. These are about 1/3 as thick as the Pampered Chef gloves. NOT impressed!

Great Pampered Chef replacements
A little long, but great replacement for decades old/worn Pampered Chef mits.

I love these gloves.
I got a burned on my wrist while pulling a dish out of a very hot oven. It was a terrible burn. I only used my stove top for over a month after my wrist finally healed. I decided I really wanted my oven in use so decided to look for something to protect my hand and part of my arm while in the oven. I looked at many types. I chose this because of looks, heat protection level and how I thought the ability of my grasping something to pull out of the oven would be. This glove set seemed to check all the boxes. I L O V E this set. I go in my hot oven with no worries, I am able to grasp what I need to when I pull it out of the oven and the best thing is the gloves almost go to my elbows and my fear of reach IN to a hot oven is now over. The quality of the gloves is great.

Very Nice!
These fit well and are long enough to protect your wrists and upper arm area. I've ordered these twice, I wore the first set out!
