Simple To Use - Big Value In Little Size
I purchased this Bosch GLM165-40 Blaze 165 Ft Laser Distance Measure as I needed to measure the distance of my existing garage door opener's travel distance while I was going to be on a ladder; a standard tape measurer was not practical for me to use on my own. This device gave me all the information I needed in a fraction of the time and effort I would have spent trying to do it the old-fashioned way. This unit has many functions, of which I only needed basic distances and saving the last three measurements on the screen; I understand it can save up to 10 measurements if needed. The device is rather small, much smaller than I thought it would be, but it packs a big punch; do not let the size fool you. This is definitely a professional quality device. I have used it in the garage, as mentioned above, and also outside in the bright sun. The unit performed excellently in both lighting conditions.I would highly recommend this device for anyone needing to preform quick measurements without an old-fashioned tape measurer. I think I will still keep the old tape for when doing woodworking, though.

A Must-Have for Precision and Convenience
The Bosch GLM165-40 has completely changed the way I double-check my measurements. Its compact and lightweight design makes it effortless to carry, and the precision is outstanding—I’ve used it to verify manual measurements down to 1/16 and 1/32-inch increments with perfect accuracy. While I haven’t explored all its advanced features yet, the ease of use and reliability make it a go-to tool for quick confirmations, whether working on detailed home projects or professional setups. Compared to traditional measuring methods, this laser tool streamlines the process and removes the guesswork. If you need an accurate, portable, and efficient measuring device, this one is a game-changer! Highly recommended for anyone who values precision and convenience.

Easy, accurate, nearly perfect time saver
Just bought a couple weeks ago, after recently moving into a place with a building that is part garage, part apartment, part storage. I'm converting two of the stalls into my office/man-cave, and wanted accurate measurements of the entire building. I spent an hour getting used to it, learning the modes, and mostly validating that it was accurate. The garage is (temporarily) storing some of my friend's stuff, along with my stuff, so using a tape measure would be very tedious.I determined length/width/height in under 20 seconds, and the unit automatically gave me area and volume. Sweet! My only (very minor) nit pick is that the fractions can be hard to see if your overhead lighting casts a little shadow on the right side of the LCD screen. The fractions are right up against the right edge of the screen. If they were held out about 1/8" away from the edge, the shadow would have no effect. Once you know this, you just angle the unit so the light hits it right and its no issue.I had dozens of measurements to make, and this little thing saved me a LOT of time and aggravation. The only reason not to buy this is that you might find one that appears the same from an off-brand. Then you read the reviews of the off-brand and ask, "Why am I trying to save $30 on a measurement tool?"At first, I had some readings that were varying by nearly 1/4" over 68'. This was my fault. I was measuring to a block wall, and failed to pay attention to whether the laser was hitting a mortar line. As long as you look at where the laser hits, keep the unit solidly planted, and don't wiggle it too much as you hit the button, this thing is incredibly, rock-solidly accurate. If you think it is not, you are doing something wrong. They warn you not to drop it, but of course I did, on the concrete, from about 5' high (while inside its canvas case). The unit was not affected.Get this thing. Once you prove to yourself that it is absolutely accurate, all measurement jobs will be much faster. I have already highly recommended this tool to everyone I think might be interested.

Dead-on accurate (I'm impressed, mostly)
Pros:I measured a simple distance and compared to a physical tape measure. It was dead-on balls accurate to 1/16" over ~24' span (see pics). The "sixteenth" portion of the displayed measurement is a little hard to read but it is there and it is spot-on.Cons:Outside on a cloudy overcast day it couldn't measure beyond 50'. And it's nearly impossible to track the laser beam over that distance anyway. So, 150' might be possible but only in a dark room with binoculars.

Works just as promised - accurate - and more.
So much easier to operate than the long-ago units (time moves on). I like that it is rechargeable instead of wasting umpteen AA batteries. Before going to site, make sure to charge to full. If taking many measurements, consider taking along a power bank to recharge. Oh - one more thing: The red laser is so powerful that I rarely need to whip out my laser pointer - a real bonus!

Nothing beats a Bosch!
I bought three of these from other brands from Home Depot, Lowe’s and Harbor freight. None of the other brands work as effectively, accurately, and efficiently as this one does. This is by far, hands-down, the best one on the market. The battery life is substantial and it’s extremely rigid. I use it every single day multiple times a day and I absolutely love it.
